Deals of the week
Jane E Fraser
Deals Insider
Monday, March 15, 2010
Jane E Fraser is an award-winning journalist who's been writing about travel and business for the last fourteen years. Every week she uses her inside knowledge of the industry to bring us the best, independently chosen travel deals out there.
Here are Jane's picks for this week:
Let's rock!
Hooray to the end of Qantas's monopoly on flights to Uluru. Three cheers for Virgin Blue for providing some competition, with launch fares from $129 one way.

Campervan savings
KEA Campers has discounted its rates by up to 50 percent until mid-December, with a two-berth camper with a shower and toilet now available from $80 a day (trust me, that's a bargain when it comes to campervans). There are no blackout dates or restrictions, except you can't do a one-way trip.

Airfare sale
These airfare deals are in their last days, so get your booking fingers working. There are hundreds and hundreds of them, so click on your departure city to narrow it down.

Aussie hotel deals
Some good accommodation offers here, such as three nights for the price of two in holiday resorts and city hotels from $125 a night.

Rail sale
If you're heading to Europe, check out these savings on rail travel, like up to 60 percent off TGV journeys in France and Switzerland and discounted fares for the Eurostar.

.
Easter escape
If you missed my Easter deals special last week, here's another chance: accommodation in the Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island from $176 a night for two people, with a fourth night free if you pay for three. Bargain.

.
Adventure travel discount
Take a friend for half price on any of these Gecko's adventure trips if you book by the end of the month (for travel up to the end of September). The options include Thailand, India and the Galapagos Islands.

.
Sydney hotel bargain
You probably won't be able to get it on a weekend, but this is a super-cheap price for five-star accommodation in Sydney. It's $139 a night, for the groovy Kirketon Boutique Hotel in Darlinghurst.

.
Thailand holiday
If you can convince your boss to give you two weeks of leave, this 16-night package is an absolute bargain. From $1549 per person, you get a return airfare to Thailand, accommodation in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket, first-class overnight train travel and extras such as a massage and a dinner.

More hotel deals
No good if you're a last-minute sort of person, but check out the savings on accommodation for bookings made at least 21 days in advance, with options around Australia and in New Zealand and Fiji.
